Security installation in Newtownabbey, in short

Newtownabbey properties vary enormously, from long-established estates like Rathcoole and Monkstown to new-build driveways with barely room for a gate, and the trade units at Mallusk. Coast Data Security fits CCTV, electric gates, intruder alarms and access control to suit each one, with a free survey and systems you manage from an app.

Newtownabbey's property mix

From Rathcoole's streets to Mallusk's trade units.

Newtownabbey is largely residential, built up in stages since the 1950s. Rathcoole and Monkstown are long-established estates with a dense mix of terraced and semi-detached housing, where a wireless alarm and a doorbell camera cover most requests. Newer developments further out have smaller plots and shorter driveways than the older estates, which changes what a gate installation looks like: there is rarely room for a long sliding track, so a compact swing gate or a single pedestrian gate with a keypad usually fits better than a full vehicle gate system.

Mallusk, on the edge of the borough near the M2, is one of the larger trade and distribution estates in the greater Belfast area, with warehousing, haulage yards and light industrial units that mostly want CCTV over a yard and access control that logs staff and deliveries. Down toward Whiteabbey and the Shore Road, some of the older, larger houses sit close to Belfast Lough, where salt in the air from the water is a smaller factor than it is further up the coast, but still worth allowing for in the equipment we choose.

Getting to Newtownabbey

Between the M2, the M5 and Belfast Lough.

Newtownabbey sits between the M2 and the M5 motorways on the northern edge of Belfast, with the Shore Road, the A2, running along Belfast Lough through Whiteabbey and Jordanstown. Planning and building control fall to Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, and policing is organised under PSNI's Antrim and Newtownabbey district. The motorway access makes Newtownabbey one of the quickest parts of Northern Ireland for us to reach from either Belfast or our Castlewellan base.

On new-build estates, the usual job is a doorbell camera, a wireless alarm and, where there is a driveway, a compact single gate rather than a wide sliding system, simply because the plot does not allow for one. At Mallusk and the other trade estates, CCTV covering the yard and access control on the main entrance are the common requests. In Rathcoole and Monkstown, most calls are for an alarm upgrade or a camera added to an existing system.

Why us in Newtownabbey

One team, four systems, across all of Newtownabbey.

Coast Data Security Ltd fits CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and electric gates across Newtownabbey, treating a new-build driveway, an established Rathcoole terrace and a Mallusk trade unit as three different jobs rather than one standard package. Every installer is fully qualified and carries comprehensive public liability insurance, and a compact new-build gate and a Mallusk yard camera can still share the same app because we design and fit all four systems ourselves. The survey is free and the handover is thorough.

How it works in Newtownabbey

From enquiry to everything working

  1. 1

    A visit before any quote

We visit your property, whether that is an estate house in Rathcoole, a new-build with a short driveway, or a unit at Mallusk, and work out what actually fits.

  2. 2

    Written quote

We come back with a straightforward recommendation and a written price for the cameras, alarm, gate or access control system, and there is no pressure to book it.

  3. 3

    Design around the plot

On tighter new-build plots we plan a gate and camera positions that fit the space available, rather than assuming a standard layout will work.

  4. 4

    Installation and testing

Installation, wiring or pairing happens on the day agreed, with the app configured and checked before we sign the job off.

  5. 5

    Handover and aftercare

You get a walk-through of the app and controls, the paperwork is left with you, and we are available afterwards for servicing or extras.

Newtownabbey security questions, answered.

What people ask us before booking a survey in Newtownabbey.

How much does CCTV or alarm installation cost in Newtownabbey?

We do not quote over the phone, because the property, the equipment and the number of points covered all change the price. A free survey comes first, followed by a written, itemised quote.

Do you cover new-build estates as well as older housing?

Yes. We work across Newtownabbey, from long-established estates like Rathcoole and Monkstown to newer developments where plots and driveways are smaller.

Can you fit an electric gate on a short new-build driveway?

Often, yes, though a wide sliding gate rarely fits a short run-in. We usually recommend a compact swing gate or a single pedestrian gate with a keypad instead, sized to the plot.

Do you cover businesses at Mallusk?

Yes, warehousing, haulage and light industrial units at Mallusk are a regular part of our work, usually a yard camera paired with Paxton fobs or a keypad on the main entrance.

Do I need planning permission for a gate in Newtownabbey?

The automation itself is fine without permission, but a tall new gate or fence can need it, generally over one metre beside a road or two metres elsewhere. We raise it at the survey so you can check with the council.

Are your installers qualified and insured?

Yes. Every installer carries comprehensive public liability insurance and is fully qualified, and we finish every job in Newtownabbey with a walk-through so you know how the system works.

Can you service or extend a system someone else fitted?

Often, yes. We regularly service, extend or upgrade CCTV, alarm and access control systems fitted by other installers around Newtownabbey, and we are upfront if a system is past worth adding to.

How long does installation take?

A wireless alarm or a small camera system is typically fitted in a day. Gates with groundworks and a power connection take longer, scheduled around the masonry and electrical work involved.

Do you cover properties along the Shore Road and Belfast Lough?

Yes, we regularly work in Whiteabbey and Jordanstown along the Shore Road, fitting systems suited to older, larger houses close to the water.

Can I check my cameras or alarm from my phone?

Yes, app control comes as standard with our alarms and CCTV, so you can check in on cameras, arm or disarm the system and get alerts anywhere you have signal.

What areas around Newtownabbey do you cover?

We cover the whole of Newtownabbey, including Rathcoole, Monkstown, Glengormley, the Mallusk trade estate and the Shore Road toward Whiteabbey and Jordanstown.
