Access control in Cookstown, in short
Businesses along Cookstown's famously long main street, plus gyms, shared buildings and agricultural premises out towards Lough Neagh, get Paxton fobs and keypads fitted by Coast Data Security. Cookstown is the shortest of our regular western trips at about 55 miles from our Castlewellan base, so a survey is still booked ahead, just with an easier route to build it around.
Local knowledge
Access control along one of Ireland's longest main streets.
The town's exceptionally long, wide main street shapes most of the jobs we do here. Offices, professional services and retail units along it typically have a single street-facing entrance and a separate rear staff or delivery door, so we set the two up as independent access points on one system: a proximity reader or keypad out front for staff, a plainer keypad round the back for deliveries, both logged together.
Gyms and clubs along the street, along with community buildings serving the surrounding area, ask us most often for member or booking-based access that does not depend on someone staffing the door for every session. Move out towards Lough Neagh's western shore and the farmland around Ardboe and the Moortown Road, and the request changes: keypad entry on a personnel door, separated from whatever more robust setup handles the yard or vehicle gate.
Being the closest of the western and northern towns to our Castlewellan base, Cookstown still means a planned visit rather than a same-day one, but it is generally the easiest to combine with other Mid Ulster work towards Dungannon and Magherafelt on the same trip.
- Separate front and rear door access control for main street businesses
- Member or booking-based entry for gyms and clubs
- Keypad entry for farm shops, agricultural suppliers and rural units
- Networked systems with a full access log, viewable from one app
Honest about the distance
Why we plan Cookstown visits in advance.
About 55 miles separate County Down from Cookstown, mostly via the M1 and the A29 through Dungannon. It is the shortest of the western and northern trips we make, but we still say clearly that it is a planned visit rather than something we can turn around the same day.
A Cookstown call is often combined with another job in Dungannon or elsewhere in Mid Ulster, which keeps the route efficient without asking anyone to wait longer than necessary. What arrives on site, the hardware, the wiring, the aftercare, is identical to a job five minutes from our door.
How it works in Cookstown
From your call to the first fob working
- 1
Call or enquire
Tell us about your Cookstown property by phone or the online form, and we will offer a survey date, usually alongside other Mid Ulster jobs already on the diary.
- 2
Survey
We check the front and rear doors, or the yard where relevant, and ask how staff, members or visitors need to move through the building.
- 3
Quote
A written recommendation, covering readers, fobs or keypads and any door hardware needed, priced with no obligation and paired with a proposed install date.
- 4
Fitting
Cabling, readers and locking hardware are installed, then the system is programmed, tested and force-checked so every door fails safe as it should.
- 5
Handover
You leave the visit knowing how to add and remove users yourself, and most day-to-day changes after that are handled remotely rather than requiring us back.
Typical Cookstown premises
What usually suits which kind of property
A survey decides it, but these are the patterns we see most across Cookstown.
| Property | Usual access setup | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main street office or retail unit | Reader at the front, keypad at the rear | Front and back doors logged separately |
| Gym or club | Proximity reader linked to membership, keypad for staff | Works without a staff member on the door |
| Farm shop or agricultural supplier | Keypad on the personnel door | Separate from a more robust yard gate setup |
| Community building | Keypad with booking-based codes | Codes can be set to expire after each session |
| Office near Lough Neagh's western shore | Standard proximity reader and keypad fit | Can be linked to CCTV on the same app |
