Security installation in Newcastle, in short
Newcastle sits a short drive from our Castlewellan base, and Coast Data Security covers the promenade, the holiday lets, the town centre and the homes below the Mournes with CCTV, electric gates, intruder alarms and access control. Remote app access matters here more than most towns, since many properties are managed from a distance between bookings.
Newcastle's property mix
From the promenade to the foot of the Mournes.
Newcastle's economy runs on tourism, and a good share of the properties along the promenade and the streets just behind it are guesthouses, self-catering apartments and holiday lets rather than permanent homes. That changes what people need: an owner who is not on site for weeks at a time wants a camera and an alarm they can check from a phone anywhere, with alerts if something is not right, rather than a system that only matters when someone is home to hear it.
Behind the front, residential streets rise toward Slieve Donard and Tollymore Forest Park, with a mix of older cottages and later housing that generally suits a straightforward wireless alarm and a doorbell camera. Toward Dundrum Bay and the static caravan parks that line the coast on both sides of the town, security is more seasonal, with cameras and alarms that need to keep working through a quiet winter as well as a busy summer.
Getting to Newcastle
Just down the road from our own base.
Newcastle is one of the closest towns to our own base in our Castlewellan base, a short run along the A50, which means survey visits and call-backs here are quick to arrange. Newry, Mourne and Down District Council handles planning for the area, including the older buildings along the promenade, some of which sit within a conservation area where alterations to the front of a property need more care than a standard house. Landmarks such as Royal County Down Golf Club, Tollymore Forest Park and the Murlough dunes bring visitors through the town for most of the year, which is part of why holiday let security is such a regular job for us here.
Guesthouse and holiday let owners mostly want CCTV covering the entrance and the car park, plus an alarm and a smart lock they can manage remotely between bookings. Homes below the mountain usually want a standard alarm and camera setup. Caravan park operators tend to want CCTV covering the site as a whole, particularly over the winter months when the park is quieter.
