Security installation in Armagh, in short

Armagh's cathedral quarter and its orchard country both get CCTV, intruder alarms, electric gates, access control and WiFi from Coast Data Security, installed below two cathedrals that look down from opposite hills over the city. Every job starts with a free, careful site survey, particularly where a property sits inside the conservation area.

Local knowledge

A cathedral city surrounded by orchards.

Armagh is built around two hills, each with a cathedral called St Patrick's, one Church of Ireland and one Catholic, looking at each other across the rooftops. Around the Mall, the Georgian terraces and townhouses sit inside a designated conservation area, so a camera, an alarm box or a keypad has to go on without spoiling the front of a listed or protected building. We plan the position of any visible equipment at the survey and, where it matters, we route cabling to stay out of sight rather than fixing a box wherever is easiest.

Outside the city, Armagh is known as the Orchard County, and a large share of our rural work here is farms and smallholdings growing apples, with outbuildings, stores and packing sheds that need CCTV and an alarm as much as the farmhouse does. Entrances are often a single lane in off a quiet road, which usually means power is some distance from the gate, and a solar-powered gate motor or camera is a common answer.

Council and geography

From the Mall to the orchard lanes.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council covers planning here, and the PSNI's Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon district covers policing. The A3, A28 and A29 meet close to the city, so whether the job is a house near the Mall or a farm out towards Loughgall, the roads in and out are generally quick and direct.

Not far from the city, Navan Fort is a reminder of how old this part of Armagh actually is, and a fair number of the properties we visit, particularly in and around the conservation area, are older buildings where the survey has to consider what can be fixed to the fabric of the building and what cannot, rather than treating every wall the same way.

How it works in Armagh

From your call to a finished installation

  1. 1

    Survey in Armagh

We visit the property, whether it is a listed townhouse, a shop or a farm among the orchards, note the power supply and access, and talk about what you need the system to do.

  2. 2

    Careful specification

Where a property sits inside the conservation area or is a listed building, we plan the position and the cabling route before anything is fixed in place.

  3. 3

    Written quote

You get a clear recommendation and a price fixed in writing for exactly the work described, with nothing added that the property does not actually need.

  4. 4

    Installation

Equipment is fitted, wired or paired and properly tested, with visible fixings kept to a minimum on older, listed or otherwise protected buildings around Armagh.

  5. 5

    Handover and support

We talk you through the app, the alarm and any access devices on site, hand over the paperwork, and remain available afterwards for servicing or a future addition.

Armagh security questions, answered.

What Armagh homes, farms and businesses ask us.

Can you fit CCTV or an alarm on a listed building in Armagh?

Usually, yes, with care. We plan the position of any visible equipment and the cabling route at the survey so it does not spoil the front of a listed or protected property, and we will tell you if a particular fixing needs sign-off first.

My property is inside the Armagh conservation area, does that change anything?

It can. Some conservation area properties need extra care over where equipment is fixed and how cabling is routed, so we flag this at the survey rather than after the work has started. Automation itself rarely needs permission, but the fixing method sometimes does.

Do you cover farms and orchards outside the city?

Yes. Farms and orchard smallholdings around Armagh are a regular part of our work, including entrances with no mains power, where a solar-powered gate motor or camera is often the practical answer.

How much does it cost?

Pricing follows the survey, not the postcode. A Georgian townhouse near the Mall costs differently to fit than a farm building among the orchards, largely because of the care a listed or conservation area property needs. The quote is itemised and written down.

Is there power at my orchard gate? I am not sure?

Most rural gates in the Armagh countryside have no supply at the entrance. We can run an armoured cable from a nearby building or fit a solar kit with a battery, and the survey works out which suits your site.

How long does an installation take?

A straightforward CCTV or alarm job is usually a day. Listed or conservation area properties, and gates needing groundworks, take longer and are scheduled with a realistic programme given at quote stage.

Can I check my Armagh property from my phone?

Yes. Cameras, alarms and access control installed in Armagh all report to an app, so a listed townhouse near the Mall or a farm building among the orchards can be checked on without needing to be standing in front of it.

Do you install security for shops and offices around the Mall?

Yes. City centre shops and offices near the Mall are a regular job, usually CCTV covering the shopfront and an alarm on the premises, fitted with care where the building is older or protected.

What if my Armagh property already has a system from another company?

Older properties in Armagh sometimes already carry a system fitted years ago by someone else. We are happy to inspect it and either service, repair or extend it, particularly where a listed building means starting again is best avoided.

Do you cover villages around Armagh such as Loughgall or Markethill?

Yes. Villages and rural areas around Armagh, including towards Loughgall and the wider orchard country, are a regular part of our coverage from our Castlewellan base.

Are your Armagh installers qualified and insured?

Yes. Every Armagh installer carries comprehensive public liability insurance and full qualification, regardless of whether the job is a listed building near the Mall or a working farm out past the ring road.
