Electric gates in Armagh, in short
For homes, orchards and businesses across Armagh, a Coast Data Security visit starts with a no-cost survey before any gate is recommended. CAME or BFT motors are fitted with safety edges and photocells built in, and the finished gate is set up with fobs, a keypad, intercom and smartphone control so it works the way you need it to.
Orchard County entrances
Gates that suit Armagh's orchards and farmland.
Armagh is known as the Orchard County, and a good share of our work here is on the farm lanes running through the apple orchards around Loughgall, Richhill and Markethill. These entrances are usually long, often on a slight rise, and rarely have power anywhere near the gate itself. A sliding gate on a cantilever rail, run from a solar kit rather than a buried cable across an orchard, tends to be the practical choice and keeps groundworks to a minimum.
Closer to the city, on the Newry Road, the Portadown Road and the newer housing off the Friary Road, driveways are shorter and closer to neighbouring properties, so an underground swing motor or a slim sliding gate suits better than a large gate swinging out over the pavement. We also fit gates for business premises on the Armagh Business Park and along the Loughgall Road, usually with a keypad and logged access rather than a shared fob.
A cathedral city
Building near listed Armagh streets.
Armagh's city centre sits around the Mall and the two cathedrals, with a concentration of Georgian buildings and a conservation area that covers much of the historic core. A new gate on a listed property or inside the conservation area needs materials and a design that suit the street, and we discuss this with you before any timber or steel is ordered, so the finished gate looks right against a period frontage rather than out of place.
Permission is typically needed once a gate or fence exceeds one metre beside a public road, or two metres elsewhere, with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council as the local authority. Adding a motor to an existing gate falls outside that rule, but we raise it anyway at the survey, particularly inside the conservation area where boundary changes get closer attention.
How it works in Armagh
From your call to a working gate
- 1
Free survey in Armagh
We travel out to your farm, home or business, measure the opening, check the ground and the run-in, and note where power could reach the gate or whether a solar kit makes more sense.
- 2
A price in black and white
The proposal that follows names the motor, the gate leaves, the access kit and the safety devices individually, with a total figure agreed before a single post goes in the ground.
- 3
One organised visit
Foundations, a track or post bases, cable runs and either a mains feed or solar kit are scheduled so the building and electrical work is completed together, not in separate trips.
- 4
Commissioned properly
With the motor, control board and safety devices fitted, the whole system is programmed and run through a force test before we call the job finished.
- 5
A full walkthrough
We talk you through the manual release, the fobs, the app and the intercom before leaving, and stay on hand afterwards for servicing or adding a keypad.
