What CCTV installation involves

CCTV installation is the fitting of cameras, a recorder and a viewing app so you can see and store footage of your property. Coast Data Security surveys the site, positions Hikvision, Dahua or Uniview cameras for the best coverage, and sets up night vision, motion alerts and remote viewing on your phone.

What we install

Cameras chosen for the site, not a standard kit.

A terraced house in Belfast, a farmyard near Newry and a shop unit on a high street all need a different camera layout, so every job starts with a walk round the property rather than a fixed package. We look at entrances, blind spots, boundary lines and where a recorder can sit safely, then specify the number of cameras, the lens and the resolution each position needs.

We fit both analogue HD and IP systems, and 4K where the detail matters, such as reading a number plate at a gate or a face at a till. Cameras run back to a recorder, either an NVR for IP systems or a DVR for analogue HD, with enough storage for the retention period you want. Cabling is run and hidden properly rather than left on the surface, and every system is handed over with the app set up on your phone before we leave.

  • Analogue HD, IP and 4K camera systems from Hikvision, Dahua and Uniview
  • Bullet, dome and turret cameras chosen for the position, not just the price
  • NVR and DVR recorders sized for your storage and retention needs
  • Cabling installed and concealed properly, not run along the surface
  • Existing systems extended, repaired or upgraded where the equipment allows

Coverage and control

See what matters, day or night.

Most break-ins and most disputes over deliveries, vehicles or boundaries happen when nobody is looking, so the cameras have to work as well at two in the morning as they do at lunchtime. Every system we fit uses infrared or colour night vision to keep footage usable in the dark, and cameras are angled and lit so headlights or security lighting do not wash the image out.

Intelligent motion detection is the difference between a system that is useful and one that fills your phone with notifications every time a fox crosses the yard. Modern Hikvision, Dahua and Uniview cameras can tell a person or a vehicle from general movement, so you get an alert when it matters and not every time a bird lands on the fence. For business owners with more than one site, the same app can show cameras across several premises.

Why us

Why homes and businesses choose us for CCTV.

Coast Data Security Ltd installs CCTV alongside intruder alarms, access control and gate automation, so a camera on your entrance can share the same app as your alarm or your door entry system rather than sitting in a separate one. All installers are fully qualified and carry comprehensive public liability insurance, and every job ends with the app demonstrated on your own phone so you know exactly how to use it.

How it works

From first call to your first recording

  1. 1

    Enquiry and free site survey

Ring us or send the online form. We walk round the property with you, note the entrances and blind spots, and talk through what you want to see and how long footage needs to be kept.

  2. 2

    Design and written quote

You get a camera-by-camera recommendation, the recorder and storage needed, and a written price, so there are no surprises once work starts on site.

  3. 3

    Cabling and mounting

Cameras and cabling are fitted and routed neatly, with brackets and housings chosen to suit the wall, the render or the fascia they are mounted on.

  4. 4

    Setup and testing

The recorder is configured, motion zones and detection are tuned for the site, and every camera angle is checked and adjusted before anything is signed off.

  5. 5

    Handover and aftercare

We install the app on your phone, show you how to review and export footage, and stay available if you add cameras or need support later.

CCTV installation questions, answered.

The things people ask before they book a survey.

How much does CCTV installation cost?

CCTV pricing depends on the number of cameras, the resolution you choose, the length of cable run and the recorder and storage needed, so we quote in writing after a free survey rather than guessing over the phone. There is never a charge for the visit itself.

How long does a CCTV installation take?

A CCTV system for a house or small shop is normally fitted in a single day. Larger sites with long cable runs, several floors or more than one entrance take longer, and we explain the likely timescale once the survey is finished.

Are your installers qualified and insured?

Every Coast Data Security technician is fully qualified, and comprehensive public liability insurance covers every CCTV job we carry out. We survey the property in person rather than quoting a camera count over the phone.

Which areas do you cover for CCTV installation?

Coast Data Security installs CCTV from Newry and Belfast out across Northern Ireland, covering the towns on this page and plenty of addresses beyond them. If you cannot see your area listed, call and ask; we cover more ground than the list shows.

Can you add cameras to my existing system?

Often, yes, if your current recorder has spare camera inputs or network capacity. Where the recorder is too old or already full, we will say so plainly and quote for a replacement instead of forcing a mismatch onto it.

Do I need planning permission for CCTV cameras?

Ordinary domestic CCTV cameras do not usually need planning permission in Northern Ireland. If your property is listed or in a conservation area, the mounting and cabling can need more care, and we flag this at the survey.

Will my cameras record my neighbour's garden or the street?

We angle cameras to cover your own property wherever possible. If a camera has to capture a shared entrance, a neighbour's boundary or a public footpath, data protection guidance for domestic CCTV can apply, and we explain what that means at the survey.

Can I view my cameras on my phone away from home?

Yes. Every system is set up with a mobile app during handover, so you can view live cameras and play back recorded footage from wherever you have a signal, not just on a monitor at the property.

Do the cameras work at night?

Yes. Every camera we fit uses infrared or colour night vision so footage stays usable in the dark, and we position and angle cameras so headlights or security lighting do not wash out the image.

What is intelligent motion detection and why does it matter?

It is the camera telling a person or a vehicle apart from general movement such as trees, headlights or animals. Without it, a system can send dozens of alerts a night; with it, you only get notified when something actually matters.

Do you offer support after installation?

Support continues after the cameras are fitted. If a lens needs adjusting, the app needs setting up on a new phone or a fault appears, call the number on this page and we will deal with it.

What is the difference between Hikvision, Dahua and Uniview systems?

All three are established manufacturers with reliable hardware and their own recorder and app ecosystems. We recommend the brand based on your budget, the features you want and what will integrate best with any existing equipment on site.
